I am writing to apply for the 3rd Grade Teacher position at Riverside Elementary. In my current role at Lakeview Elementary, I raised my students' reading proficiency from 61% to 89% on the state benchmark assessment in a single year by pairing guided reading groups with weekly progress conferences.
I plan instruction around Common Core standards and differentiate daily through leveled centers, so a class with a six-grade-level reading spread all move forward together. I use Google Classroom to send weekly progress updates to families and built a classroom points system that cut disruptive incidents by half while keeping every student accountable for their own goals.
