What hiring managers look for in an operations and supply chain resume

Operations hiring runs on certifications and named systems. Put APICS CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD, CPSM, a Lean Six Sigma belt, OSHA 30, forklift, or Hazmat endorsement in the header line and again under Certifications. Then name platforms exactly: SAP S/4HANA, SAP MM, SAP EWM, Blue Yonder, Manhattan WMS, Oracle OTM, Coupa, SAP Ariba, NetSuite, McLeod, Samsara. ERP alone matches nothing.

Scope and metrics carry the rest. State spend under management, SKU count, square footage, headcount, loads per week, or fleet size, then the numbers this field trusts: OTIF, fill rate, forecast accuracy, inventory turns, days of supply, inventory accuracy, shrinkage, pick rate, OEE. Keep a Core Competencies block and a Certifications section; warehouse and fleet resumes add Safety and Compliance. Write S&OP exactly as the posting does, since filters match strings literally.

Operations & Supply Chain resume questions, answered

Where should APICS CPIM, CSCP, or a Six Sigma belt go on an operations resume?

Put the acronym beside your name in the header, such as Maria Reyes, CPIM, and repeat it in a Certifications section with the issuing body and year: APICS CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, CPSM, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, OSHA 30. Write both the acronym and the full name once, since postings use either. Keep these lines plain text, outside sidebars and tables.

How long should a supply chain or operations resume be?

One page for coordinators, buyers, and analysts under about eight years. Two pages once you own a P&L, a facility, or a team, which is normal for supply chain and warehouse managers. Length rarely breaks parsing; layout does. Use a single column, keep contact details in the body rather than a header or footer, and never build the experience section as a table.

Is it enough to write WMS, TMS, or ERP, or should the platform be named?

Name it. Matching is literal, so a posting asking for Manhattan Associates will not score a resume that says WMS. List every platform you have run: SAP S/4HANA, SAP EWM, SAP TM, Blue Yonder, Manhattan, Oracle OTM, NetSuite, Coupa, SAP Ariba, McLeod, Fleetio, Samsara, Minitab. Add the generic term in parentheses once so both spellings hit.

Should a CDL, forklift certification, or OSHA card be listed on a resume?

Yes, in the Certifications section, written the way the regulation reads: CDL Class A with Hazmat endorsement, OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, powered industrial truck operator and trainer, DOT and FMCSA compliance. Warehouse, fleet, and logistics screens search those exact terms. Add expiration dates, and give safety a short section of its own when the role is on a dock or in a yard.
