In marketing and sales, a resume is judged on channel proof and numbers. Certifications like Google Ads, Google Analytics 4, Meta Blueprint, HubSpot, and Salesforce Certified Administrator belong in their own section, not buried in a summary. Recruiters scan for ROAS, CAC, MQL-to-SQL conversion, pipeline sourced, quota attainment, average deal size, and sales cycle length, then for the stack behind those results: Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Gong, Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, GA4.
An ATS matches strings, so use the exact term the posting uses: GA4 as well as Google Analytics 4, PPC as well as paid search, MEDDIC or Challenger when the ad names a methodology. Marketers reach for two-column brand layouts and campaign infographics, and those break parsing. Keep one column, skip tables and text boxes, and give metric-heavy roles a Campaign Highlights or Achievements section for launches, President's Club, and ranking wins.
Marketing & Sales resume questions, answered
How long should a marketing or sales resume be?
One page if you have under ten years of experience. Senior account executives and marketing managers with long quota histories or multiple product lines can justify two. Cut early coordinator duties before cutting numbers. Length matters less than density: every bullet should carry a channel, a tool, and a result, and the whole document should stay in a single column.
Where do Google Ads, GA4, and HubSpot certifications go?
Put them in a dedicated Certifications section and spell each one exactly as the issuer does: Google Ads Search Certification, Google Analytics 4, Meta Blueprint, HubSpot Inbound Marketing, Salesforce Certified Administrator. If a posting treats a certification as a requirement, add it beside your name in the header too. Never place credentials inside a sidebar or text box, where parsers routinely drop them.
Should a marketing resume include portfolio or campaign links?
Yes, but as plain text URLs in the contact block, one per line. Landing pages you built, campaign case studies, or a site whose organic traffic you grew are strong evidence for SEO, content, and paid roles. Avoid QR codes, link icons, and buttons, which parse as images and vanish. Write the full address so it survives a plain-text conversion.
How do you show quota attainment when revenue numbers are confidential?
Use percentages and multiples instead of protected dollar figures: 142 percent of quota, 3.2x pipeline growth, ROAS lifted from 2.8x to 4.3x. Add context that is not confidential, such as segment, average deal size band, and sales cycle length. Recruiters read attainment against quota, not raw revenue, so a percentage carries the same weight and keeps you inside your NDA.
