Business and management hiring turns on scope and proof. Recruiters scan for the size of what you ran, meaning budget owned, headcount managed, units processed, pipeline generated, then for the method behind it: Lean Six Sigma, Agile and Scrum, gap analysis, stakeholder workshops. Certifications filter hard here, so PMP, CBAP, PMI-PBA, CSM, PRINCE2 and Six Sigma belts belong in the header or a dedicated Certifications section, not buried mid-summary.
An ATS matches literal strings, so the systems you name matter: SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Jira, Confluence, Visio, SAP, NetSuite, Salesforce, or the WMS your site actually runs. Group them in one plain Skills section, not a multi-column table that parsers split or drop. Mirror the posting's exact wording too: requirements gathering, vendor management, P&L ownership. A synonym scores nothing. Each example below leads with quantified scope, then names the systems behind it.
Business & Management resume questions, answered
How long should a business or management resume be?
One page under ten years of experience, and one page for consulting applications regardless of tenure, since case-team recruiters read for impact density. Two pages work once you own a P&L, several sites, or large teams, but only if page two carries quantified scope rather than duties. Keep it single column either way, because multi-column layouts get read straight across and scramble titles and dates.
Where do PMP, CBAP, and Lean Six Sigma certifications go on a resume?
Put the acronym on the header line beside your name, then repeat it in a dedicated Certifications section with the issuing body and year. Spell out the full form once as well: Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Postings search on either version. Keep credentials out of text boxes and graphic badges, which parsers cannot read at all.
Should a business or management resume include a photo?
No, not for US, Canadian, or UK applications. Photos sit in image frames or document headers that parsers skip, they consume space needed for budget and headcount figures, and many corporate recruiting teams strip them before review to limit bias exposure. Spend the reclaimed lines on a summary that names your industry and your largest number.
How should multiple promotions at the same company be listed?
List the employer once, then stack each title underneath with its own date range and bullets. The parser reads one continuous tenure while a human sees scope growing, from one shift supervised to three, or from a $500K budget to $4M. Merging the roles into a single entry hides the progression, which is the strongest signal an operations or management resume carries.
